This series was made in Timimoun during two different trips in 2017 ans 2021, where i was trying to document the Gourara Ahellil musical groups.
Ahellil is a poetic and musical genre very famous in Timimoun and the Gourara region, this type of music was created by Znata people (Iznaten) who are berber tribes living in this region.
These groups usually reunite during religious and collective ceremonies such as Sboue (7 days of celebration of the prophet Muhamad birthday)
This musical genre is registered in the international non material cultural heritage since 2008.
